What is Low-E glass?

Filed under: double pane windows, vinyl windows, window insulation — scottdh @ 11:46 pm

This is one I hear often from people considering replacing old windows with new double pane vinyl windows. Low-E glass is glass that has been treated to be more energy efficient. It helps keep the summer suns energy from heating your home, and helps prevent heat loss during winter months.

Other insulating options are available too such as argon gas filled double pane windows. Again, an options, this gas helps prevent the transference of outside temperature differences to the inside of your home. You can check out these resources for a more detailed look at Low-E glass and argon options for your home.

New high-insulation residential window site

Filed under: Uncategorized — scottdh @ 1:04 am

The windows in your home can be a curse or a blessing. Old single pane aluminum framed windows are cold in the winter and hot in the summer. They’re clunky and insecure, offering intruders and entry point. Truly a curse.

New vinyl framed double pane windows are more on the blessing side, keeping the cold out or keeping the cool inside. They look a lot better then their old aluminum window counterparts, are much more secure – and do they ever keep out outside noise outside. Screens are a breeze to remove and replace for cleaning, and the price of replacing old windows with new vinyl double pane windows might not be as high as you think.
